ORLANDO, Fla. - The Piedmont men's tennis team returned to action for the first time in over a week and picked up a 6-3 win over Regis to open its Orlando trip on Sunday evening.

The Lions took two out of three doubles lines to jump out to an early advantage and won four of the six singles matches to improve to .500 and snap a two-match losing skid.

Piedmont began the day with an easy win at No. 3 doubles from sophomores LEO GALARZA and KODY DILLS. Then, after falling at No. 1 doubles, freshman RYAN RAUGH and junior COOPER KEWORK emerged victorious, 8-4, at No. 2 to swing momentum back in favor of the Lions heading into singles action.

Piedmont erased any doubt from the outcome by dominating No. 4 through No. 6 singles, losing only two total games from those lines.

JC FOSTER and COLIN DRAWDY each did not drop a single game on their way to victories at No. 5 and No. 6 before Kework clinched the match for the Lions with a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 4.

In the final three matches on court, underclassmen for the Lions played hard-fought matches that were decided by third-set superbreakers.

Raugh clawed his way to a victory, winning a second-set tiebreaker after dropping the first set before winning the superbreaker 10-7 to close out the festivities.

Both ALBERTO NUNEZ and BRYCE VANORDER battled but fell in superbreakers at No. 1 and No. 2 to allow Regis to put two points on the board, although the outcome was already decided.

Up next, the Lions will play two more matches tomorrow, first against Houghton at 8 a.m and then against Wartburg at 6:30 p.m.

TURNING POINT:
- After splitting the first two doubles matches, the No. 2 team of RYAN RAUGH and COOPER KEWORK delivered an 8-4 win at No. 2 to give the momentum back to Piedmont going into singles.

STANDOUT PERFORMANCES:
- Both Kework and Raugh delivered doubles wins and singles wins.
