ORLANDO, Fla. - The Piedmont men's tennis team cruised to an 8-1 victory Monday morning over Houghton in its second match in Orlando, Florida.

The Lions delivered a clean sweep of the three doubles lines and won all but one of the singles lines in straight sets to win their second in a row.

CHRIS BALE and PATRICK DEMPSEY rebounded from Sunday's doubles loss and dominated at No. 3, winning 8-0 to put Piedmont up 1-0 before Houghton could blink. The No. 1 doubles team of ALBERTO NUNEZ and HOUSTON MEDLOCK then picked up their first win as partners with an 8-2 win at No. 1.

Finally, the sweep was completed as MIKE PORCELLI and ROMAN WEBB prevailed in a hard-fought 8-5 win at No. 2 to complete the doubles sweep.

Needing just two points to clinch the match, Dempsey remained perfect in singles play with a dominant 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 4 before SILAS SANDLES (6-2, 6-1) clinched the match with a win at No. 2, his first of the season in singles action.

With the match in hand, the Lions continued to dominate, picking up wins from Medlock (6-2, 6-2) at No. 3 and Bale (6-1, 6-3) at No. 1.

After Webb dropped a hard-fought match in a third-set superbreaker, KODY DILLS concluded the action with a 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 6. The win marks the first in singles action for the sophomore after picking up his first doubles win of the campaign yesterday.

The Lions will be back in action tonight at 6:30 p.m., taking on Wartburg.

TURNING POINT:
- The Lions enjoyed a 3-0 lead after recording their first doubles sweep of the season.

STANDOUT PERFORMANCES:
