Records: Piedmont, 4-2-1; Concordia Chicago 1-2

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Piedmont bats were hot early and often Sunday in a 15-5 victory in seven innings over Concordia Chicago. Four Lions had multi-hit performances as Piedmont tallied 13 hits in the contest.

The Cougars were first on the board wasting no time with a leadoff homerun to take a 1-0 lead. Freshman BRADEN SIMMS earned his second start of the season struggling early before settling in to work three innings.

Concordia Chicago was up 2-0 after the top of the first, but Piedmont was quick on the board in the second inning with three runs of their own to claim the lead.

It wasn't the final time the Cougars would threaten though as they scored another pair in the fourth to lead 4-3, but again, the Lions were ready for revenge.

In the bottom of the fourth, HUNTER CAIN led with a homerun to tie the game and give Piedmont momentum again. A pair of walks and timely singles help Piedmont take the lead for good up 7-4 at the end of four.

Extra base hits were the difference in this one as Piedmont had seven extra base hits including three triples with CARTER BALLSTADT securing a pair of triples. The Cougars had just one extra base hit, the homerun to start the contest.

The seventh inning featured four of those extra base hits for Piedmont as both SCOTT LYON and KYLE CARLSON doubled and CARTER BALLSTADT tripled in the inning.

Up next, Piedmont is set to host Berry on Tuesday at 4 p.m. at Loudermilk.

TURNING POINT:
--Big innings were the difference in this one for Piedmont including a six-run seventh inning to reach the 10-run lead mark and end the contest.

STANDOUT PERFORMANCES:
--CARTER BALLSTADT continues to be electric at the plate going 2-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored with both hits being triples.
--KYLE CARLSON was the lone Lion with three hits in the contest going 3-for-5 with two RBI.
--TYLER ROON earned his second victory of the season, pitching the final 2.1 innings for Piedmont allowing no hits, no runs and striking out two of the nine batters he faced.
