Men's Lacrosse Rolls Past Warren Wilson 25-1 in Season Opener

DEMOREST, Ga. - The Piedmont men's lacrosse team opened its 2022 season with a dominant performance in a 25-1 victory over Warren Wilson on Tuesday night at the Walker Athletic Complex.

The Lions scored three times in the first two minutes of the game and never looked back from there, taking a 12-0 lead after the first quarter and a 20-0 advantage going into the break.

The wealth was spread throughout the evening as Piedmont saw 12 different players score goals in the contest.

Sophomore IAN PARR led the team with four goals while AVERY JENKS, MICHAEL ANDERSON and BRADY MCGUIRE added three goals apiece.

The shot count was drastically in Piedmont's favor as it held a 57-4 shot advantage for the game and a 38-2 edge in shots on goal.

After leading 20-0 at the halftime break, the Lions slowed down their offensive pace, scoring five more times in the second half to ice away the game.

The Owls got on the scoreboard in the third quarter on Saiquan Bell's second goal of the season.

Up next, the Lions will host SAA rival Birmingham-Southern this Saturday, Feb. 19 at 12 p.m.

TURNING POINT:
- Piedmont shocked the Owls in the opening minutes, leading by 12 after 10 minutes of play.

STANDOUT PERFORMANCES:
- AVERY JENKS was all over the field in limited action, scoring three goals to go with a team-high four assists.
- The Lions were dominant on faceoffs, winning 28-of-30 for the contest, with CHRIS PANNENBACKER taking all six and both NOAH GLENZINSKI (10-11) and JACOB KIPP (12-13) winning all but one.
- IAN PARR tied his career high, leading the Lions with four goals.
- MICHAEL ANDERSON added a hat trick with three goals, while also adding two assists.

NEWS AND NOTES:
- The Lions have now won five consecutive home contests, all by double digits.
