DEMOREST, Ga. - In the second meeting between these two schools this season, Piedmont claimed the home court advantage avenging an earlier loss this season with an 82-70 win over Birmingham-Southern. JOE HELENBROOK had a career night with his first double-double of his career with career-highs in points and rebounds with 19 points and 11 rebounds.

In the first half, the Panthers built a 10 point lead 21-11 with 11:52 to play, but then the Lions' defense held BSC scoreless from the floor for nearly six minutes of action. Piedmont went on a 17-2 run before the Panthers found another basket from the floor and the Lions held a 28-23 lead.

BSC was not going down without a fight however as they battled back to take the lead at the break 36-31. Three-pointers were falling to start the second half as ORRY CLEMENTS-OWENS drained one, but BSC answered with a pair.

The Panthers increased their lead to 12 with 15:19 to play after four 3-pointers in the first five minutes of the second half. Piedmont began to chip away and this run sparked the comeback for the Lions.

A 9-2 run put Piedmont down by five, but Piedmont continued to push and ultimately made it a 17-5 run to tie the game at 55 on a Helenbrook fastbreak layup. GARRETT BEAGLE dunked it with 6:33 to play putting Piedmont ahead by two.

It was close down the stretch but Piedmont built a nine point lead and ultimately, free throws let them close it out. HUNTER NORMAN converted 7-of-8 from the free throw line in the final three minutes.

Up next, the Lions will travel to Georgia Southern for an exhibition on Wednesday.
