MONTGOMERY, Ala. - In a CCS matchup on the road, the Piedmont University men's soccer team used two second half goals to secure their first win of the season.
Piedmont dominated the first half against the Hawks, outshooting them 9-2 in the first 45. However, the Lions were unable to come away with a goal and the contest went to half tied 0-0.
The level contest persisted well into the second half, but Piedmont was finally able to break through. In the 68th minute, Sophomore Forward JASON AUSSIN put away the opening goal for the Lions, his 4th of the season.
The squad also added late insurance in the form of a penalty kick goal, taken and put away by Junior Midfielder RICARDO RUIZ. The goal in the 86th minute secured the 2-0 score line for the Lions and is Ruiz's first since the spring of 2021.
Up next, the Lions return home to face a much-improved LaGrange squad on Tuesday, Oct. 11th. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.
TURNING POINT:
- JASON AUSSIN broke the level score line in the 68th minute with his fourth goal of the season.

- Piedmont out shot Huntingdon 17-9 in the contest.
- Piedmont Keeper BOBBY WOOD made 3 saves throughout the contest to preserve the clean sheet.
- This is Piedmont's first win of the season.
