ATLANTA, Ga. - After earning a share of the Collegiate Conference of the South Regular Season Title, the Piedmont women's soccer team has earned the No. 1 seed and home field advantage for the upcoming conference tournament.
The Lady Lions finished off a dominant end of their conference slate with a 3-0 shutout on Saturday at Berea. Piedmont made a remarkable turnaround after beginning its CCS season with a tie at Covenant and a home loss to Belhaven.
Â
The Blazers owned a slight advantage over the Lady Lions heading to the final day of the season. However, they lost on Saturday night at home to Covenant, meaning Piedmont and Maryville each finished the season at 6-1-1. Due to last weekend's 3-0 Senior Day rout by the Lions over Maryville, Piedmont earned the No. 1 seed.
Â
This marks the second consecutive season in which Piedmont has earned at least a share of a regular season conference title. Last season, the Lady Lions parlayed a 7-1 regular season record to take the USA South West Division Regular Season Title.
Being the No. 1 seed, the Lady Lions will await the winner of the No. 8 vs. No. 9 play-in matchup between Agnes Scott and Wesleyan and will host the winner in Demorest this coming Saturday, Oct. 29.
Under Head Coach Timmy McCormack, the Lady Lions have lost only one conference contest in all seasons except 2019, when the squad went 6-2.
Piedmont will conclude its regular season with a road contest at Asbury on Monday, Oct. 24 at 4 p.m.
