COLUMBUS, Miss. - In the final game of the regular season,
JASON AUSSIN scored twice, including a late game winner as the Lions close out the 2022 regular season on a high note.
Less than 16 hours after picking up a crucial CCS win against Belhaven, the Piedmont University men's soccer team was back in action against Mississippi University for Women.Â
It was a rough start for the Lions. In the 14th minute, the squad conceded a penalty opportunity and saw Owls Midfielder Alejandro Pocasangre put it away to open the scoring 1-0. Piedmont would battle hard for the remainder of the half but would go to the break trailing by one.

JASON AUSSIN buried the chance to make the contest level 1-1.Â
The Lions used the equalizing momentum to dominate the second half. In the 75th minute, a flurry of shots from Piedmont resulted in
JASON AUSSIN putting away his second goal of the day to put the Lions in front by 1. They would hold off the Owls for the remainder of the contest and finish in front 2-1.
Up next, the Lions will begin CCS tournament play in the quarterfinals against Berea on Wednesday, Oct. 26. A time has not been announced.Â
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
 - Piedmont was narrowly outshot in the first half 6-5.
 - The Lions dominated the second half shot category, 12-3.
 - There was a total of 35 fouls in the contest.
