DEMOREST, Ga. - The Piedmont volleyball team held tough in a road contest at Bob Jones falling in straight sets to the Bruins 3-0. The Lady Lions kept it close throughout with the final two sets decided by just two points each.

The Bruins had their largest win in the first set with a 25-18 victory, but Piedmont pushed them to the brink in the second set. The Lady Lions led for a large portion of the second set with it coming down to the wire. 

Piedmont led 24-22 as the two were going point-for-point down the stretch. The Bruins were able to answer and force extra points before a service error and back-to-back bad sets cost Piedmont the second set. 

The Lady Lions fell behind early 14-10 in the third set but battled back to lead 18-17. Piedmont led 22-20 before a 5-0 run sealed the match for the Bruins. 

Up next, the Lady Lions return home to host Wesleyan in CCS competition Wednesday at 7 p.m. inside Cave Arena. 

TURNING POINT:
--Piedmont held a 24-22 lead over Bob Jones in the second set but was unable to close it out falling 27-25 to go down 2-0.

STANDOUT PERFORMANCES:
--SARA BEVILL led Piedmont with 13 digs serving as the libero in Tuesday's contest. 
--KATIE HUBBARD led the Lady Lions with nine kills, fresh off a CCS Rookie of the Week announcement earlier Tuesday. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
--Piedmont and Bob Jones both posted 37 kills in the contest.
