MARYVILLE, Tenn. – Taking on the Maryville Scots who sit undefeated in conference play, the Piedmont University men's basketball team held tough in a 71-67 loss on the road. The Scots raced ahead in the first half and held the lead throughout the second half despite the Lions' best effort.

It was a four point game after a 3-pointer from ANDREW STIMPSON, but from that point, the Scots went on an 11-0 run to secure a 28-13 lead. Piedmont rallied back with eight straight, but trailed by six 36-30 at the break.

Maryville scored the first four points out of the break, but EVAN EASTON banked a 3-pointer to get Piedmont back on the board. After just three 3-pointers in the first half, Piedmont managed six in the second half including the first two baskets made from the floor.

JOE HELENBROOK connected from deep for a 3-pointer to make it 48-43 and NOAH REARDON cut it to a four point game with 10:54 to play. That was the closest Piedmont would come in the final minutes as well.

The Scots tallied 18 points from the charity stripe outscoring Piedmont by 12 at the line.
