BREVARD, N.C. – Senior forward
JORDAN FOOTE led the charge for Piedmont University's men's basketball on Tuesday night as his 32-point, six rebound performance ignited a huge second half for the Lions en route to a 73-54 road victory over Brevard.
Foote's 32 points marks a season-high for the fifth-year player and stacks up as the second-most points in a single game for his career. Only a 40-point performance versus Berea in the 2019-20 season ranks higher for the Atlanta native.
It was early in the second half when the Foote's impact really started to turn the tides. After battling the Tornados to a 32-32 tie at the halftime break, the Lions found themselves behind by one with 17:28 left to play, but a pair of made threes from Foote put Piedmont ahead by one.
While the Tornadoes would take the lead on the next possession on a Carson Evans' jumper, those free throws would start off a dominant stretch for Foote that saw him score 12 of Piedmont's 16 points over a six-minute span.
That stretch for Foote was a large part of a 29-8 run that saw the Lions take control of the game and lead by as many as 22 points in the later stages of the second half.
Foote's dominance left the rest of the Lions starters out of double figures, but he got help off the bench from junior guard
LOGAN CRANFORD, who knocked down a trio of three-pointers to help lift his game total to 11 points. It's Cranford's second time scoring in double figures in the last four games.
TURNING POINT:
-- A layup from
ANDREW STIMPSON with 16:47 left to play served as the final lead change as the Lions embarked on a 29-8 run that put the game out of reach.
