FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - The first USA South athlete of the week honors are out for the 2021 fall season and a pair of Lions made the cut. CAMERON EARLS and LAILA ALLEN both earned weekly awards. 

CAMERON EARLS, Men's Soccer Player of the Week

CAMERON EARLS picked up right where he left off in the spring as a dominant force for the Lions. Earls scored a total of four goals over the weekend including two game-winners. The senior was held scoreless in the opening contest of the year against Berry in a 3-0 loss, but managed a hat trick in the team's next outing scoring three goals in the first half against Ferrum. The Lions won 3-1 against the Panthers after Earls' third hat trick of his career. He also scored the lone goal in a 1-0 win over Averett Sunday, scoring in the 21st minute. So far this season, Earls has accounted for all four goals the Lions have scored. 

LAILA ALLEN, Women's Soccer Defender of the Week

LAILA ALLEN made an impressive start to her career with a shutout against Berry Saturday at Walker Athletic Complex. The Lady Lions won 1-0 after a goal in the 85th minute. The freshman from Marietta stopped all seven shots she faced in her collegiate debut. She earned all 90 minutes in the net with a 1-0 record now to start her career.
