GREENVILLE, S.C. – In midweek road action, the Piedmont University volleyball team fought hard falling to Bob Jones 3-0 Tuesday. Piedmont dropped the opening set 25-10 before rebounding with a 25-18 performance in the next two sets. 

Bob Jones used a hot start to take control of the first set leading 10-2 before four straight attack errors let Piedmont back in it 10-6. The Bruins then went on a 9-1 run to lead 19-7 and claimed the 25-10 victory.

Piedmont had just four kills in the opening set and only two in the second, but managed to utilize errors by the Bruins to stay in the second set 25-18. The Lady Lions trailed 21-12 in the second set but fought back.

The final set saw the Bruins lead 11-4 early, but the Lady Lions more than doubled their total kills in this set alone with eight total kills. Piedmont trailed by just four 16-12, but could not keep pace with Bob Jones down the stretch. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
--JESSICA SCONYERS had four kills in the match and led Piedmont with a .375 attack percentage. 

STANDOUT PERFORMANCES:
--VANESSA MANZO led the team in assists with eight and digs with seven (JESSICA BEIL also added seven digs). 

UP NEXT:
--The Lady Lions have the weekend off and will host Brevard on September 22 for the home opener at 6 p.m.
