Women's Lacrosse Claims Thrilling OT Victory 12-11 at Huntingdon

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – In thrilling fashion, the Piedmont College's women's lacrosse team claimed a 12-11 overtime win at Huntingdon College Sunday. 
 
Piedmont has now won four straight to move their record to 5-5 and a perfect 3-0 in USA South play. Perhaps even more impressively, those four straight wins have all come on the road. 
 
The Lady Lions took a 2-0 lead in the first 10:00 of play, but from that point on it was a back-and-forth battle with the two going goal for goal until the half. Piedmont held a 5-4 lead at the break and capitalized on early opportunities in the second half with three goals to lead 8-4. 

Huntingdon began to chip away at the lead but Piedmont still held an 11-7 advantage with 13:37 to play. Huntingdon reeled off four straight over the final minutes to tie the contest with the tying goal coming with 3:09 remaining. 

Neither team could break the tie forcing OT where EMMA FRANSEN rose to the occasion with the game-winner and what would be her career-high seventh goal in a single contest. 

TURNING POINT:
--EMMA FRANSEN connected in overtime to lift the Lady Lions to victory dodging and diving her way in for the game-winner. 

STANDOUT PERFORMANCES:
--Fransen nearly single-handedly kept the Lady Lions in the contest tallying seven goals, a career-high for the junior. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
--Just three Lady Lions scored for Piedmont while six Hawks contributed goals for Huntingdon. 

UP NEXT:
- Piedmont will now have a free weekend and resume play on Thursday, April 8 hosting Pfeiffer inside Walker Athletic Complex.
