DEMOREST, Ga. – In the rubber match of the series, the Piedmont College baseball team lost 7-0 to Huntingdon College as the Hawks claimed the series 2-1.
PEYTON IRVIN earned the start for the Lions going 7.0 innings allowing three runs, two earned and struck out seven.
Irvin worked a clean first three innings before the Huntingdon offense clicked and was able to add three runs on three hits and one error in the fourth inning. That was all Irvin would allow with the Hawks managing six hits against him. Ballstadt entered in relief of him but struggled in the ninth inning allowing five hits and four runs before giving way to
JUSTIN MANUS.
The Hawks totaled 12 hits in the contest to Piedmont's nine but the Lions also stranded 12 on the base paths. Piedmont threatened early leaving two on in each of the first three innings then again in the bottom of the eighth.
JACK BARTLEWSKI continued his hot streak adding two hits to his weekend total of seven against the Hawks. Ballstadt also added a pair of hits as he and Bartlewski were the two Lions to record multiple hits.
TURNING POINT:
--The Hawks again used a big offensive performance in a single inning to take control of the contest with three runs in the fourth inning to claim a 3-0 lead.

JACK BARTLEWSKI added two hits again including a double giving him seven hits over the weekend.

--Piedmont is set to host Emory Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. at Loudermilk Field.
