DEMOREST, Ga. – It was a tough outing Saturday for the Piedmont College baseball team as the Huntingdon Hawks handed them a 13-2 loss to even the series.
JACK BARTLEWSKI was a bright spot for the Lions going 3-for-3 at the plate with two walks and an RBI.
It was quiet through the first three innings, but then the Hawks' offense came alive. Huntingdon secured a 3-0 lead after the fourth inning with three hits including a triple. The scoring onslaught was only beginning as the fifth inning was when Huntingdon broke it wide open with eight runs on six hits and two walks.
Piedmont went to the bullpen for the first time in the fifth inning as starter
JAMES REECE gave way to
NATHAN BOYCE. Boyce left for
RYAN COX later in the frame as Piedmont used a total of five pitchers in the contest.
TYLER ROON and
KELTON KIESCHNICK both pitched two innings.
Huntingdon struggled in the ninth inning to close out the contest with a pitching change in the inning as the Lions added a run on one hit and three walks, all coming with two outs.
TURNING POINT:
--The Hawks scored multiple runs in the fourth and fifth including eight in the fifth inning to increase their lead to 11-0.
STANDOUT PERFORMANCES:

JACK BARTLEWSKI and
TYLER SHELEY were the only Lions to record hits as both added three hits in the contest.
