BREVARD, N.C. - The Piedmont men's tennis team took home its second consecutive 9-0 shutout to begin conference play, rolling past Brevard for a Friday road win.

The Lions dominated all three doubles lines and took each of the six singles matches in straight sets, with three coming in 6-0, 6-0 fashion.

Playing together for the first time in doubles, the No. 3 team of CHRIS BALE and PATRICK DEMPSEY began the festivities with an 8-0 win before HOUSTON MEDLOCK and CHASE MORRIS rolled to an 8-1 win at No. 2 followed quickly by an 8-2 win at No. 1 from SILAS SANDLES and ROMAN WEBB.

Heading into singles with a 3-0 lead, Piedmont quickly clinched the match at 5-0 thanks to 6-0, 6-0 wins from Dempsey at No. 6 and Bale at No. 3. Dempsey's win at No. 6 singles improves the sophomore to 7-2 at that spot this season.

Freshman BRYCE VANORDER then rolled to a 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 2 while Sandles did not drop a game, crusing to a win at No. 5 singles.

The upperclassmen Medlock and Morris then finished off the clean sweep, racing to two-set victories at No. 1 and No. 4 singles to end the evening.

The two teams will battle again tomorrow at 10 a.m. in nonconference action.
