GEORGETOWN, Texas – The Piedmont women's lacrosse team was unable to overcome a slow start, falling, 20-12, at Southwestern in the opening game of its Texas trip.

The Lady Lions received standout performances from newcomer SHELBY MINOR (5 goals) and senior EMMA FRANSEN (3 goals) as the duo combined to score of eight of Piedmont's 12 goals on the evening.

The Pirates rolled out to an impressive start, scoring in the first minute of the contest and taking a 3-0 lead before PC cracked the scoreboard on Minor's first of the night.

From there, the closest PC came to the lead was three goals as Southwestern scored the final three of the first to build a 14-6 halftime advantage.

However, the Lady Lions continued to battle throughout the second half, holding the Pirates to just six goals in the final 30 minutes.

On the offensive end, AISLYNN KIMBRO delivered in the second half, tallying two of her three goals.

Goalkeeper KELLIANNE SCHLOSSER delivered eight saves in the loss.

Up next, the Lady Lions will remain in Texas and take on the University of Dallas this Sunday, March 14 at 1 p.m.
