CENTRAL, S.C. – The Piedmont men's tennis team dropped a road match, 6-1, at Division II Southern Wesleyan on Tuesday afternoon in South Carolina.
 
On a beautiful afternoon at the Leroy Cox Tennis Complex, the Warriors (2-0) were able to sweep all three doubles lines to take the first point of the match and never looked back from there.
 
Playing Division II rules, Piedmont trailed by just one going into singles, but SWU quickly erased any doubt by winning five of the six singles lines in straight sets.
 
The Lions (0-2) were led by sophomore PATRICK DEMPSEY, who cruised to a 6-1, 6-2 victory at No, 6 to put a point on the board for Piedmont.
 
Up next, the Lions will make their debut against Division III competition by traveling to take on Birmingham-Southern next Tuesday, Feb. 16.
 
STANDOUT PERFORMANCES:
- Dempsey's victory at No. 6 singles now pushes him to 6-5 in singles matches over the last two seasons, second-most on the team over that span.
