YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – The Piedmont men's tennis team fell, 7-0, at Division II Young Harris on a chilly Thursday afternoon.
Playing under Division II rules, the Lions (0-1) battled hard but fell in a tiebreaker at No. 1 singles and were unable to take a doubles or singles line the rest of the way in the loss.
After the Mountain Lions (1-0) took the first two doubles matches, 6-2, at No. 2 and No. 3, Piedmont's No. 1 doubles team of
CHRIS BALE and freshman
SILAS SANDLES battled Young Harris's Kash Reddiyar and Ignacio Ascarrunz into a tiebreaker where they fell 7-4.
With the Mountain Lions leading 1-0 going into singles, PC was unable to generate any momentum dropping all six singles lines in straight sets.
Newcomers
BRYCE VANORDER (No. 2) and
SILAS SANDLES (No. 5) each made their Piedmont debut on the afternoon against difficult DII competition,
