BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Piedmont men's tennis team delivered a repeat performance in its second straight 7-2 loss at Birmingham-Southern on Sunday afternoon.
For the second consecutive day, the Lions (0-4) were able to take a pair of singles lines as
SILAS SANDLES and
PATRICK DEMPSEY each delivered wins in straight sets.
Piedmont found itself once again in an 0-3 hole after dropping all three doubles matches to the Panthers.
Starting the same six players in singles as they did yesterday, the Lions received the exact same results, picking up wins at No. 5 and No. 6.
However, unlike yesterday, this time Sandles was able to win in straight sets, a dominant 6-2, 6-3 triumph while Dempsey also had an easier time of it Sunday, winning 6-3, 6-3 at No. 6.
At No. 4 singles,
CHASE MORRIS battled in the first set, but fell, 6-4 before dropping the second, 6-2.
After BSC took the first four points of the match, Piedmont put its two points on the board to briefly cut its deficit to 4-2. Unfortunately, the Panthers were able to clinch the match with a 6-1, 6-4 victory from Wilbur Dotson at No. 1 singles.
Up next, the Lions will continue to battle the SAA as they head to Berry to take on the Vikings this Thursday, Feb. 25 at 3 p.m.
