DEMOREST, Ga. – The Piedmont men's basketball team cruised to a 94-65 rout of Berea on Friday afternoon in Cave Arena.
The win marks Piedmont's fourth straight and moves the team to 6-3 in the USA South.
In its first home contest since Jan. 22, the Lions (9-6, 6-3 USA South)Â used a 16-2 run over the final 6:26 of the first half to take control of the contest.
Sophomore
RYAN JOLLY led the way for Piedmont scoring 18 points to go with four assists and three rebounds. He was joined in double figures by
EVAN EASTON and
ANDREW STIMPSON, who each poured in 10 points.
Berea's Trey Minter delivered a valiant performance in defeat, leading all scorers with 34 points in just 24 minutes.
The Mountaineers (0-7, 0-7 USA South) started the game on fire from deep, knocking down five three-pointers in the game's first 11 minutes to build a lead of 29-24. However, that was the largest deficit Piedmont faced all afternoon as it took the lead on Easton's jumper with 6:26 left in the first half and never looked back.
Leading by 14 at the break, the Lions began the second half on a 6-0 run to push their lead to 20. The Lions led by as many as 31 points late in the second half as they continued to light up the scoreboard.
Overall, Piedmont had 13 players score in the contest.
Prior to the game, senior forward Mikey Joseph was honored for his contributions to the program.
Up next, Piedmont will host Berea again tomorrow at 1 p.m. inside Cave Arena.
