AUSTIN, Texas - Piedmont men's soccer's
CAMERON EARLS was named a CoSIDA Academic All-American for the second consecutive season, the organization announced Wednesday afternoon.
The senior forward from Tifton, Georgia was one of three forwards selected to the first team after earning a spot on the third team this past spring.
In earning Academic All-America honors twice during his career, Earls is the first member of the Piedmont men's soccer program to accomplish the feat. He is just the third overall Piedmont student athlete to earn multiple Academic All-America nods,joining Devin Haupt (Women's Soccer) and Kaitlin Norman (Volleyball).
Earls closed out his Piedmont career in style, scoring a career-best 18 goals, which led the USA South by a margin of five. He delivered four hat tricks this season, including a four-goal performance in a conference win over Brevard.
Over the course of his career, Earls has been a CoSIDA Academic All-District honoree three times, earning honors in 2019, spring 2021 and fall 2021. On the field, he was named All-USA South First Team three times and was an All-USA South West Division performer four times.
Earls leaves Piedmont third in school history with 56 career goals. In 2019, he was named United Soccer Coaches All-Region and earned USA South Player of the Week honors a program-record six times during his career.
The Division III Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division III national governance structure to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2021-22 Division III Academic All-America® teams program.
