DEMOREST, Ga. – In a midweek matchup against #13 Emory University, the Piedmont University men's basketball team dropped a 78-64 game Thursday evening. 

In the first half, it was a tightly contested game as Piedmont maintained an early lead through the first 10 minutes of play. The Lions led 18-14 after a JORDAN FOOTE layup with 9:51 on the clock till halftime. The two went shot-for-shot for a bit until the Eagles tied up the contest at 22-all.

Over the final 5:21 of the first half, Emory went on an 11-4 run to build a 33-26 lead at the break. Piedmont came out strong to start the second half with a 7-3 run including a 3-pointer by ORRY CLEMENTS-OWENS. 

JUSTIN QUICK tallied seven points in a row for the Lions to claw back to a 47-40 deficit as he totaled 21 points in the contest. On a crucial possession for the Lions, Clements-Owens drained it from the corner pocket to cut it to a 3-point lead 50-47. 

From that point, the Eagles cruised ahead and led by as many as 20 in the second half. Late steals for the Lions cut into the lead with Piedmont managing eight points in the final 1:29. 
 
TURNING POINT:
--Emory used a 20-5 run down the stretch in the second half to open up the contest and cruise to victory. 
 
STANDOUT PERFORMANCES:
--JUSTIN QUICK was the player of the game for the Lions totaling 21 points in the contest while also adding five rebounds. 
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
--JORDAN FOOTE also had an impressive night for Piedmont with 16 points and nine rebounds. 
 
UP NEXT:
--The Lions have an exhibition contest on the road Sunday as they travel to take on Kennesaw State.
