LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga. – After a loss Friday to the Scots, the Piedmont College men's basketball team rebounded Saturday to earn an overtime victory at Covenant 69-62. The win moves the Lions to .500 on the season at 6-6 and handed Covenant its first loss in conference play.

ORRY CLEMENTS-OWENS stole the show in overtime with a pair of 3-pointers that electrified the Lions and helped seal the deal in the second game of the weekend. The Lions closed out the second half with a RYAN JOLLY 3-pointer to tie the game and the magic from beyond the arc continued into OT.

ORRY CLEMENTS-OWENS banked a 3-pointer with just over two minutes remaining in OT to give the Lions a 60-57 lead. Covenant answered on the next possession but RYAN JOLLY drove the lane for two to bring it back to a three point lead.

Covenant called timeout with 1:13 remaining but the Lions forced a turnover on the Scots' ensuing possession and Clements-Owens doubled down with another 3-pointer to make it a six point lead, 65-59. The Scots continued to fight with a 3-pointer of their own from Will Crumly, but the Lions were perfect from the line in the final 30 seconds with ANDREW STIMPSON and RYAN JOLLY each going 2-for-2.

Covenant led by 10 in the opening half and appeared to be picking up where they left off Friday, but the Lions used a 9-0 run late in the first half to tie the game at 26. Covenant led by six with under a minute to go till the break, but Jolly banked a 3-pointer to make it 34-31 at the half.

Clements-Owens got a steal to start the second half and converted a fast-break layup to cut the deficit to one and spark a tight second half as neither team led by more than six. Piedmont claimed its first lead of the second half after a layup by JORDAN FOOTE made it 44-43. It was a back-and-forth battle without much scoring in the final stretch as the two teams combined for just 10 points in the final 5:30 of regulation.

The Lions once again saw RYAN JOLLY make a 3-pointer to answer at the end, forcing OT where Piedmont took its largest lead of the game (7) by the final score 69-62.

This marks the first win for the men's basketball team at Covenant since the 2017-18 season where Piedmont also claimed a seven point victory in overtime 89-82.
