DEMOREST, Ga. – The Piedmont College baseball team received the Team Academic Excellence Award from the ABCA (American Baseball Coaches Association), the organization announced.
 
The honor is earned by teams with GPA's of 3.0 or better in the current academic year.
 
This marks the fifth consecutive season in which the Lions have received the award.
 
In June, the team accounted for 17 All-USA South Academic Team selections.
 
On the field this season, Piedmont was off to a 10-7 start was 7-2 in the USA South before the season was cut short due to the coronavirus pandemic.
