RALEIGH, N.C. -- The Piedmont College women's lacrosse team fell to six-time defending USA South Athletic Conference Champions Meredith College, 21-6, on Saturday afternoon.Â
Meredith (1-4, 1-0) jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the opening 2:51 before
AISLYNN KIMBRO put Piedmont (2-3, 1-1) on the board at 23:25.
The Avenging Angels used a 9-0 run to pull ahead 12-1 with over 13 minutes left in the first half. Kimbro scored again with just over 12 minutes to play, but Meredith added a pair of goals to close out the opening 30 minutes.Â
After two more Meredith goals to start the second half,
EMMA FRANSENÂ scored off a free position shot to give the Lady Lions their third goal.Â
LINDLEY WARD and
DOMONIQUE STEELE each added goals for Piedmont midway through the half before
ROWAN BUMPASS scored the game's final goal with eight seconds left to play.Â
HUNTER PARRETT made 15 saves in the loss. Kimbro and Steele each had four draw controls while Steele, Bumpass and
AMARI PRICE all had two ground balls.Â
