ORLANDO, Fla. – The Piedmont College men's tennis team fell, 5-2, late Monday night in Orlando.
 
Playing against the NAIA Mustangs, the three doubles matches counted for just a single point.
 
The Lions prevailed in all three but were up just 1-0 heading into singles action.
 
Piedmont had a number of players make their season debuts in singles action as Morningside took the match 5-2.
 
The Mustangs took matches at No. 1 and No. 2 in straight sets while PHILLIP SMITH prevailed, 6-2, 6-1 at No. 6 to even the score at 2-2.
 
The next three matches all were forced into a third-set match breaker with Morningside prevailing in all three to take the match.
 
Up next the Lions will play two matches again on Tuesday, starting at 8 a.m. against Dickinson before wrapping up the day with a 6:30 p.m. match against Carthage.
