DEMOREST, Ga. – The Piedmont College baseball team poured it on offensively Sunday in the series finale against Pfeiffer in a 13-3 win. PEYTON IRVIN was dealing on the mound tossing seven innings allowing just one run on four hits and striking out three.

Both teams were scoreless through the first, but the Lions got on the board in the second to take a 1-0 lead. Piedmont scored the run on one hit and left the bases loaded after a two out walk, double by CAMERON JACKSON and a pair of hit by pitches. 

The Lions came alive in the fourth inning scoring three runs on two hits to take a 4-0 lead then added on another pair of runs in the fifth inning to take a commanding 6-0 lead. The Lions used small ball in the fourth with walks, singles and fielder's choice plays to add a total of three runs. 

In the fifth, Piedmont added two runs on one hit and an error while stranding two. The Lions continued to score in each inning with one in the sixth, four in the seventh and another pair in the eighth. In total, the Lions left 15 runners on base despite scoring 13.

Three Lions had multiple hits in the game led by JONATHEN BURKETT's 3-for-6 performance with four RBI and a run scored. CONNOR JELLEY also had an impressive day going 2-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored while also making some stellar defensive plays. 

Up next, Piedmont hosts Adrian College Tuesday at the Milkjug for a 7 p.m. midweek matchup. 

TURNING POINT:
--A three run fourth inning for Piedmont proved to be the difference as Piedmont scored in all but the first and third innings. 

STANDOUT PERFORMANCES:
--PEYTON IRVIN allowed just four hits over his debut outing at Loudermilk Field pitching seven innings allowing four hits and one run.
