DEMOREST, Ga. – The Piedmont men's basketball team dropped its regular season finale, 83-62, on Senior Day at Cave Arena.

Playing in his final home game in Demorest, senior guard
MILES RILEY led the Lions (14-11, 9-9 USA South) with 16 points on 10-of-17 from the free throw line.

Averett (19-6, 15-2 USA South) closed out the season on a 13-game winning streak with the wire-to-wire win. The Cougars had already locked up the No. 1 seed in the East Division for the upcoming USA South Tournament.

The Lions earned the No. 3 seed and will travel to Huntingdon on Tuesday night for a quarterfinal showdown with the Hawks.

Piedmont hung tough in the first half, trailing by only three at the break despite shooting just 33 percent from the field.
Â
However, Averett raced out of the locker room with a 7-0 run in the first 1:29 of the second half.Â

Averett's Isaiah Jones erupted for 23 points as the Cougars continued to pull away throughout the second half.

TURNING POINT:
- Averett used a big early second-half run to take control of the game.

STANDOUT PERFORMANCES:
- Riley delivered 16 points to go with six rebounds, knocking down 10 free throws in the loss.

WILL RICHTER continued his strong play, scoring 13 points on 3-of-6 from beyond the arc.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- The Cougars knocked down 10-of-20 from downtown while the Lions made just 4-of-18.
