MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Piedmont men's basketball team ended the 2019-20 season Tuesday with an 87-72 loss at Huntingdon in the opening round of USA South Tournament play.
Piedmont trailed 9-0 to start the game as the Hawks worked quickly to build a lead. The Lions worked to claw their way back in and tied the contest at 10 just under 8:00 into the game.
The Lions then worked ahead with a 10 point lead 25-15 after a
WILL RICHTER 3-pointer with just under 8:00 to go till the half. The Hawks continued to fight holding Piedmont scoreless for a four minute span and closed the gap to a 35-33 lead for Piedmont at the half.
In the second half, it was never more than a five point game until 4:00 remained on the clock. Piedmont maintained the lead through much of the opening 10:00 of the second half, but in the final 7:06, the Hawks took control of the contest.
Huntingdon outscored the Lions 23-6 to end the game after the Lions had kept it close and had a four point lead with 11:00 to play.
TURNING POINT:
--The Hawks used a 23-6 run to close out the game after Piedmont led 66-64 with 7:23 to play.

ANDREW STIMPSON led Piedmont with 13 points as three Lions scored in double figures (Stimpson,
JORDAN FOOTE and
WILL RICHTER).
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
--The Lions held a 35-33 lead at the break but were outscored 54-37 in the second half.
