Baseball's Offense Ignites in 13-6 Win at Brevard

NEED TO KNOW:
Score: Piedmont 13, Brevard 6
Records: Piedmont 5-3; Brevard 2-6

BREVARD, N.C. – The Piedmont College baseball team claimed its first conference series of the season and fifth win in a row on Saturday with a 13-6 win over Brevard. The Piedmont offense has come alive in the last two contests scoring 11+ in the last two games.

The Lions jumped out to a 5-0 lead after the top of the third scoring three in the second and another pair in the third. Brevard answered back with their own three spot in the third inning to cut into the lead 5-3.

In the fifth inning, the Lions again added multiple runs as TYLER SHELEY tripled to score WES SNYDER, then Sheley himself scored on a wild pitch. The sixth inning saw Piedmont tack on three unearned runs to take a commanding 10-3 lead.

The Tornados again answered in the sixth inning, but it was too little, too late scoring three runs to make it 10-6. The Lions continued to turn it up offensively with an EVAN MEADE sac fly in the eighth and two more runs in the top of the ninth.

KELTON KIESCHNICK earned the win for the Lions marking his first collegiate victory. RYAN COX earned a save for his first of the season as well.

Up next, the Lions conclude the Brevard series facing the Tornados at 1 p.m. Sunday.
