DEMOREST, Ga. – The Piedmont men's lacrosse team was unable to overcome an early deficit, falling, 11-10, on Saturday afternoon in its home opener in Demorest.

The Lions (1-1) quickly fell behind in the game's first minute and saw its late rally fall just short as the Quakers (2-0) survived for the road win.

JEREMY KOHN and AVERY JENKS each tallied four goals to lead Piedmont while goalie ZACH CZULADA made 11 saves.

Guilford's Bryce Craig scored in the game's first minute before Derek Zacatenco added another goal under two minutes later.

AVERY JENKS recorded three of his four goals in the first quarter with his third tying the game at 3-3 with 3:10 left in the period.

The momentum quickly swung back toward the Quakers as they used a 4-0 run to start the second quarter to build a comfortable margin. While the Lions were able to score a pair of goals to close the half, PC still trailed 7-5 heading to the break.

The Lions were able to tie the score at 8-all late in the third quarter on CHASE GOFF's second goal of the day, but Guilford scored twice in the final three minutes of the period and never trailed again.

Kohn's two goals in the fourth were not enough as Zacatenco's goal with 6:11 left in the contest turned out to be the difference in the 11-10 final.
