DEMOREST, Ga. – JORDAN FOOTE delivered the first 40-point game by a Lion in 13 years as the Piedmont men's basketball team roared past Berea, 88-71, on Saturday afternoon at Cave Arena.

Foote scored his 40 points on 14-of-25 from the floor, 5-of-9 from three-point range and 7-of-9 from the free throw line while also grabbing a game-high 12 rebounds.

The junior from Atlanta becomes Piedmont's first 40-point scorer in a single game since Jake Baldwin scored 42 at Birmingham-Southern on Nov. 25, 2007.
Berea (9-14, 5-11 USA South) led by as many as nine points in the early going, but Piedmont (13-10, 8-8 USA South) rallied back to take a seven-point lead into the locker room and continued to pull away throughout the second half to win for the sixth time in its past seven games.

The Mountaineers jumped out to a quick start, taking a 16-7 lead not even five minutes into the game. However, the Lions were able to hang around, as an
EVAN EASTON three-pointer with 9:17 left in the half cut the PC deficit to 20-18.

After the Mountaineers scored the next five points, Piedmont clawed back into the game once again, with a pair of
ORRY CLEMENTS-OWENS free throws giving Piedmont a 29-28 lead. The Lions were able to then close the half on a 7-1 run to take a 36-29 lead into the break.

PC quickly took a nine-point lead after
JUSTIN QUICK's layup 15 seconds into the second half. However, Berea responded with a 13-4 surge to pull even at 42-42.

The Lions answered once more with a 17-6 run to take an 11-point lead into the under-12 media timeout.

From there, the Lions led by at least seven points the rest of the way and held a comfortable edge as the minutes wound down.

Up next, the Lions will take on Maryville for a pivotal road matchup this Tuesday, Feb. 18 at 7 p.m.
