ATLANTA – The Piedmont men's lacrosse team opened its 2020 season with a strong 15-4 win at Oglethorpe University on Wednesday night.
Senior
BRADY JENKS scored five goals, two assists and picked up six ground balls while younger brother
AVERY JENKS added three goals and one assist in the season-opening win for the Lions (1-0).
Piedmont opened the game with three first-quarter goals to lead 3-0 after the opening 15 minutes.
JOSH COBBINA scored the first goal for the Lions before B. Jenks scored the other two.
The Stormy Petrels (2-1) made the score 3-1 early in the second, but a flurry of Piedmont goals put the game away at halftime with the Lions leading 7-1 at the break.
The Lions continued their rout, scoring three goals in the third and five in the fourth.
Outside of the Jenks duo, Cobbina finished with three goals, three assists and two ground balls.
CHASE GOFF,
CONNOR ROGERS,
JEREMY KOHN and
MICHAEL ANDERSON each added one goal apiece.
Freshman
CHRIS PANNENBACKER won 11-of-17 faceoffs and scooped up seven ground balls.
Senior
ZACH CZULADA picked up the win in goal.
Turning Point
Piedmont led wire-to-wire, scoring at 12:17 in the first quarter.
Inside The Box Score
The Lions led in shots (61-22), ground balls (44-22) and clears (14-17).
Piedmont went 3-for-9 on extra man opportunities.
