LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga. – The Piedmont College men's basketball team dropped a tough road contest to division leader Covenant College Wednesday, 80-71. The Lions trailed by six points inside of 9:00 to play, but were unable to close the gap.
Piedmont built a 14-10 lead, but then it was a back-and-forth battle with neither team leading by more than five points until the Scots claimed a 27-21 lead off a converted and-one by Will Crumley.
The Lions continued to chip away at the lead getting it down to two with just over a minute to go till the half but the Scots led 38-33 at the break.
Piedmont came out of the gate hot in the second half as they claimed the lead 42-41 after a 3-pointer by
JORDAN FOOTE. The Scots answered with a quick 8-0 run to turn momentum in their favor.
The Scots continued to ride that momentum with six-straight 3-pointers, building up a 15 point lead 70-55. Piedmont continued to fight, but the Scots remained just out of reach.
Up next, the Lions will host Berea College Saturday, February 15 at 4 p.m.
