ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. – The Piedmont College men's basketball team hit the road Wednesday dropping a 91-78 decision to the North Carolina Wesleyan Battling Bishops. Piedmont was led by JUSTIN QUICK's 21 points, but it was not enough as N.C. Wesleyan took the victory moving the Lions' record to 3-2 overall.

The Lions were able to establish an early lead in the first half as ORRY CLEMENTS-OWENS was hot out of the gate with 11 of Piedmont's first 17 points. Clements-Owens banked all three of his made 3-pointers in the game in the opening six minutes.

Piedmont led 17-10 but the Battling Bishops reeled off an 11-0 run to claim the lead 21-17 and never trailed from that point on. The Lions kept it close through much of the first half, but N.C. Wesleyan built a 13 point lead at the break 53-40.

Momentum carried to the second half for the Battling Bishops as they stretched it to a 19 point lead before the first media timeout. Both teams went scoreless over a three minute stretch midway through the second half, but the Lions were unable to use that scoreless stretch from the Battling Bishops to their advantage.

N.C. Wesleyan built the lead to as many as 22 points, but the Lions continued to fight. It was too large a sum to overcome though as Piedmont got it to a nine point deficit with 1:33 to play after a Quick 3-pointer.

The Battling Bishops' Damon McDowell led all scorers with 26 points going 5-of-8 from 3-point range. Both teams had four players shoot in double figures as JORDAN FOOTE, Clements-Owens and RYAN JOLLY joined Quick on that listing.
