DEMOREST, Ga. – For the second-straight countable contest,
RYAN JOLLY posted a career-high for the Piedmont College men's basketball team as the Lions toppled Greensboro College 84-72 Saturday. Jolly topped his 30 point performance against Bob Jones with 32 against the Pride inside Cave Arena.
It took some time before the first points went on the board, but the Lions held the lead at the first media timeout 11-8. Jolly and
JORDAN FOOTE started their onslaught of points early accounting for 11 of Piedmont's first 13 points. The lead continued to go back and forth until the Lions reeled off a 13-2 run to lead 30-22.
Piedmont stretched the lead to as many as 11 in the first half but eventually went into the break leading 40-31. Jolly scored 22 of Piedmont's 40 points in the first half.
The Lions led by 13 after a fastbreak layup by
ORRY CLEMENTS-OWENS, but the Pride started to chip away at the lead quickly. Greensboro went on a 15-3 run to make it a 49-48 lead for Piedmont.
JORDAN FOOTE banked a 3-pointer to keep the Lions ahead, but Greensboro tied it at 52 and again at 55. Piedmont pulled away at that point with a 14-2 run of their own to go up 69-57 and never trailed again in the contest.
The Pride got as close as six points in the final minutes, but the Lions withstood the test and closed out the 84-72 victory.
Greensboro was led by Greyson Collins who scored 23 points while Matthew Brown recorded a double-double with 12 points and nine boards.
TURNING POINT:
--The Pride kept it close midway through the second half as the game was tied at 55, but a
JAKE SMITH 3-pointer sparked a 14-2 run to put the Lions ahead 69-57.
STANDOUT PERFORMANCES:

RYAN JOLLY led all scorers with his 32 points going 12-of-16 from the floor including three 3-pointers.
--
JORDAN FOOTE also hit double-digits adding 25 points and nine rebounds.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
--Jolly and Foote combined for 57 points, accounting for 67% of Piedmont's points.
--Both teams scored 19 points off turnovers.
UP NEXT:
--This marked the final contest of the 2020 season at home but the Lions return to action on Wednesday, December 9 at North Carolina Wesleyan College.
