DEMOREST, Ga. – The Piedmont College men's basketball team dropped its first home game of the season Sunday with a 74-57 loss to Methodist. Piedmont trailed 28-25 at the half, but the Monarchs used a 16-0 run out of the break to claim the lead for good.
Piedmont struggled from 3-point range with just four 3-pointers in the contest shooting under 20%Â while the Monarchs connected on eight. The Lions shot just 30% from the floor with this marking the lowest scoring contest of the season.Â
The Lions had a pair of three's in the opening minutes from
MICHAEL JOSEPH and
ANDREW STIMPSON as Piedmont led 12-11. Both offenses went cold over a seven minute stretch midway through the first half as Methodist scored a pair of baskets but those were the only four points during that stretch.Â
MILES RILEY led the team with 10 points in the first half but was shutdown in the second. The Monarchs outscored Piedmont 16-2 before the first media timeout in the second half and used that momentum to carry through the contest.Â
Up next, Piedmont hosts Covenant College Wednesday at 7 p.m. inside Cave Arena.
