DEMOREST, Ga. – The Piedmont College men's basketball team was unable to keep pace with the Scots of Covenant College Wednesday as 3-pointers rained for the visitors in a 70-49 loss for the Lions. The Scots were electric from deep banking 11 3-pointers.

Piedmont led early in the contest and did not trail until a Covenant free throw off an and-one gave the Scots a 16-15 lead with 10:13 remaining in the first half. The Lions were outscored 13-4 over a 4:30 span midway through the half as Covenant stretched the lead to 26-17 with just over 6:00 till halftime.

The Lions clawed back to make it a five point game 28-23 off an ORRY CLEMENTS-OWENS spin move through the lane forcing a Covenant timeout. Out of the break though, the Scots regained momentum with back-to-back 3-pointers and took a 39-28 lead into the locker room. Covenant connected on seven 3-pointers in the first half and ended the game with 11 total.

In the second half, the Scots maintained momentum and did not allow the Lions to close to gap. Piedmont trailed by nine 50-41 after a JORDAN FOOTE layup with 14:16 remaining, but from that point on, it remained a double-digit lead for the Scots.

Up next, Piedmont hosts Huntingdon College Saturday, January 11 at 4 p.m.

TURNING POINT:
--A 13-4 run during which the Scots took the lead in the first half proved to be the momentum shift as the Scots led throughout the contest from that point on.

STANDOUT PERFORMANCES:
--JORDAN FOOTE again led Piedmont with 14 points and four rebounds as he and Clements-Owens ended the game in double figures with Clements-Owens adding 12 points.

NEWS AND NOTES:
--The Scots shot 44% from behind the arc netting 11 3-pointers to Piedmont's two.
