LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga. – The Piedmont College men's soccer team fell, 2-0, at Covenant on Friday afternoon in Lookout Mountain, Georgia.
The Scots (5-0-1, 2-0 USA South) struck midway through the first half and added an insurance goal late as the Lions (2-2-1, 1-1-1 USA South) were unable to mount a comeback.
Covenant held a 20-5 advantage in shots but only an 8-3 edge in shots on goal.
Early in the first half, the Scot threatened but were turned away until Josh Brower broke the scoreless tied with a strike from just inside the 18-yard box to the top right corner of the net.
PC battled the rest of the first half and throughout most of the second to keep its deficit at just a single goal.
However, Covenant put the game away in the 88th minute as Jake Major found the back of the net to end any chance of a Lions rally.
Once again,
CAMERON VERONA stood tall in goal, making six saves for the contest.
Up next, the Lions will be off for a week before returning home to host Methodist next Friday, Sept. 27 at 4 p.m.
