ATLANTA, Ga. – The Piedmont College men's tennis team dropped a road match, 9-0, at Oglethorpe on Wednesday evening in Atlanta.
The Lions (11-5) were unable to secure a doubles point and the Stormy Petrels (8-4) carried the momentum into singles, winning all six lines, including two in a third-set match tiebreaker.
Oglethorpe rolled to a pair of quick points with wins at No. 2 and 3 doubles. Then, at No. 1,
KANLER CUMBASS and
JARRETT GRAY battled, but fell, 8-5, to give the Stormy Petrels the doubles sweep.
In singles action, the Stormy Petrels were able to quickly clinch the match with a pair of two-set wins at No. 2 and No. 1.
Gray battled back to win the second set after dropping the first,but was blanked in the third set to give Oglethorpe's Zoe Raymond the win.
Both
CHASE MORRIS and
ANDREW CHITTY won the first set before dropping the second and falling in a third-set match tiebreaker to give the Stormy Petrels the shutout win.
Up next, Piedmont will look to remain unbeaten in the USA South with a road match against Huntingdon this Saturday, April 6 at 2 p.m.

- The Stormy Petrels took all three doubles matches and never looked back on their way to the 9-0 sweep.
