DEMOREST, Ga. – Junior 
ROWAN BUMPASS scored a career-high seven goals to lead the Piedmont women's lacrosse team to a 15-10 win over Greensboro College in the opening round of the USA South Athletic Conference tournament.
 
With the win, No. 3 seed Piedmont will advance to the semifinals of the USA South tournament. The Lady Lions will play No. 2 seed Averett at 1 p.m. on Friday at Callaway Stadium in LaGrange, Ga.

In addition to her seven goals, Bumpass added one assist and was 3-for-3 on free position shots.
 
EMMA FRANSEN was the only other Lion to score multiple goals as the sophomore had five. She also picked up three ground balls and had two caused turnovers.
 
Bumpass opened the game with a pair of goals to give Piedmont (10-7) a 2-0 lead at the 26:52 mark.  
 
After a Greensboro (6-10) goal at 24:10, the Lady Lions scored three-straight to pull ahead 5-1. The Pride would end the scoring streak, but 
AISLYNN KIMBRO started another 3-0 run to give PC an 8-2 lead.
 
Greensboro would close the half with a 2-1 run and head into halftime trailing 9-4.
 
MATTIE KEATON played the first 30 minutes in goal and recorded seven saves.
 
Greensboro started the second half with a man-up goal before Bumpass answered back less than a minute later.
 
The Pride then scored a man-down goal to pull within four, but Piedmont received goals from 
DOMONIQUE STEELE, Bumpass and Fransen to extend its lead to 13-6. Both teams would trade goals before the Pride scored three to pull within four scores.
 
CASSIDY HEFLIN closed the game for Piedmont with 1:16 left to play. Following the goal, turnovers by both teams led to a Greensboro shot with six seconds left, but freshman keeper 
HUNTER PARRETT made the save and was able to run the clock out.
 
 
Standout Performers 
-- Heflin finished with one goal, one assist and seven ground controls.
-- Steele added one goal and six draw controls.

KATY BROWN and 
KAITLYN MORRIS each had three caused turnovers while Brown had four ground balls.
 
Turning Point
-- Piedmont pulled ahead 5-1 in the first 11:19 and was able to hold the lead for the remainder of the game.
