Women’s Lacrosse Cruises to 20-4 Victory Over LaGrange

LAGRANGE, Ga. – The Piedmont women's lacrosse team stayed in-state on Wednesday and defeated LaGrange 20-4 in USA South Athletic Conference play at Panther Field.

With the win, the Lady Lions (7-6, 6-2) are now tied with Averett for second in the conference standings. Piedmont will close out its home schedule this weekend with Senior Day on Saturday against William Peace before hosting conference leader Meredith on Sunday.

Piedmont had a pair of players score five points as EMMA FRANSEN and CASSIDY HEFLIN each had three goals and two assists.

ROWAN BUMPASS scored four goals while DOMONIQUE STEELE had three goals and an assist.

The Lady Lions jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first minute as Heflin and Bumpass scored before LaGrange (0-8, 0-8) answered at 28:39.

The two teams would trade goals as Piedmont led 4-3 with 22:06 remaining in the half.

The Lady Lions would then take control and score 12-unanswered goals to lead 16-3 at halftime.

As the second half progressed, Piedmont took its foot of the throttle and added four goals before LaGrange scored its final with 2:54 left to play.

Senior MATTIE KEATON started in goal and had one save in 30 minutes of play. Freshman HUNTER PARRETT finished the game in goal and allowed one score while stopping three stops.

MACEY HIGGINS added three goals while AISLYNN KIMBRO scored twice. ERIN AYLWARD and MADISON VOSHALL scored once.

ANNA WATSON had three caused turnovers.
 
Standout Performers 
-- Fransen and Heflin each had five points. Fransen added three draw controls and two ground balls.

Turning Point
-- Piedmont used a 12-0 rin to close the first half to put the game away.

-- The Lady Lions return home for Senior Day on Saturday. Gametime is set for 1:00 p.m. with Senior Day activities beginning at 12:40 p.m.
