DEMOREST, Ga. – The Piedmont College men's tennis team remained unbeaten in USA South play with a 9-0 sweep of Berea on Saturday afternoon at the Burgen Tennis Courts.

The Lions (11-4, 8-0 USA South) grinded out a pair of 8-6 doubles wins to take a 3-0 lead into singles play and won five of six singles matches in dominating fashion to complete the sweep of the Mountaineers.

After ROMAN WEBB and CHASE MORRIS rolled to an 8-0 win at No. 2 doubles, the Mountaineers (2-8, 2-6 USA South) battled but came up short at No. 1 and No. 3.

First, PC's No. 1 doubles team of ANDREW CHITTY and HARRISON LABOLLITA prevailed, 8-6, before HARRIS SAILORS and BRANDON GREGORY outlasted Chris Malpartida and Juan Chavez-Casiano, 8-6, to keep Berea off the board.

In singles competition, LaBollita carried over his momentum from doubles and did not drop a game in putting PC's fourth point on the board.

Webb then provided the clinching winner with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 4.

After HOUSTON MEDLOCK, Chitty and Sailors each cruised to two-set victories, Gregory gave the Lions the clean sweep by rallying from dropping the first set to win a third-set match tiebreaker, 10-8, to close out the match.

Up next, the Lions will travel to take on Oglethorpe this Wednesday, April 3 at 3:30 p.m.

TURNING POINT:
- After an easy doubles win to put the first point of the match on the board, Piedmont was able to secure a 3-0 lead after a pair of 8-6 doubles wins at No. 1 and No. 3.
