DEMOREST, Ga. – The Piedmont women's lacrosse team won its third-straight USA South Athletic Conference matchup on Wednesday night, taking down Brevard College 15-5 at the Walker Athletic Complex.
 
Piedmont (5-5, 4-1) took the early 1-0 lead as EMMA FRANSEN scored her first of four goals in the opening 1:22 of the game.
 
Brevard (6-4, 3-2) tied the game over a minute later before Piedmont rattled off five goals to pull ahead 6-1.
 
The Tornados responded with a three-goal run of their own to cut the lead to two goals, but junior CASSIDY HEFLIN scored with five seconds left in the opening half to give Piedmont a 7-4 lead at halftime.
 
Brevard scored to at 26:18 in the second half, but the Lady Lions would take control for the remainder of the game and used an 8-0 run to close out the game.
 
Senior goalkeeper MATTIE KEATON earned the win and had nine saves with three ground balls.
 
Fransen and Heflin had four goals apiece while MACEY HIGGINS and AISLYNN KIMBRO each scored twice.
 
DOMONIQUE STEELE had a goal and two assists while ROWAN BUMPASS and MADISON VOSHALL each had one goal.
 
 
Standout Performers
-- Heflin had four goals, four ground balls, eight draw controls and five caused turnovers.
 
Turning Point
-- Leading 7-5 in the second half, Piedmont used an 8-0 run to win 15-5.

Up Next
-- Piedmont will play at Methodist on Saturday for a conference matchup. Gametime is scheduled for noon.
