DEMOREST, Ga. – The Piedmont College men's basketball team caught fire in the second half and pulled away from Brevard late for a 68-58 victory on Tuesday night at Cave Arena.

After a slow start on the offensive end, the Lions (4-18, 3-12 USA South) picked up their production in the second half, scoring 42 points led by TAYLOR MILLS' six three-pointers.

For the game, Mills tallied a career-best 28 points and tied his career-high with seven three-pointers. Although Mills was the only Lion in double figures, freshman WILL RICHTER contributed a season-high four assists off the bench and Tarik Abdulgader produced eight points and eight rebounds in just 10 minutes.

Both teams struggled offensively in the first, with each failing to eclipse 40 percent from the field. However, the Lions went into the break with a 26-25 lead thanks to a late first-half jumper from Mills off a feed from MARQUISE LANIER.

MILES RILEY and Mills paced PC in the first half, scoring seven points each.

Neither team was able to separate early in the second half, but Piedmont finally took the lead for good at 38-36 with 13:19 left in the second half.

After the Tornados (5-16, 2-12 USA South) cut their deficit to 43-42, Mills knocked in a three-pointer on the next possession to spark a 10-2 run and increase PC's lead to double digits.

The Lions led by as many as 15 points in the late stages, as Brevard was unable to mount a charge in the final minutes.

Up next, the Lions remain at home to take on Greensboro this Friday, Feb. 8 at 7 p.m.

TURNING POINT:
Leading 43-42 with just under 11 minutes remaining, Mills' three-pointer put the Lions up by four. Over the next seven minutes, PC outscored the Tornados, 18-7, to build an insurmountable edge.
