LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga. – The Piedmont College men's tennis team outlasted Covenant, 5-4, in a thrilling road victory on Tuesday afternoon.
 
For the second consecutive day, senior ANDREW CHITTY provided the clincher with a straight-sets win at No. 6, this time taking down the Scots' Tyler Kelly, 7-5, 6-2, to help the Lions improve to 2-0 on the season.
 
The afternoon started well for Piedmont, as it took two out of three doubles matches to establish a 2-1 advantage heading into singles.
 
After PC fell at No. 2 doubles, KANLER CUMBASS and JARRETT GRAY took the match at No. 1, 8-7 (3), while HOUSTON MEDLOCK and CHASE MORRIS delivered an 8-6 win at No. 3.
 
Covenant took back the momentum with a pair of two-set victories at No. 3 and No. 1 singles before the Lions retied the score at 3-all with HARRISON LABOLLITA's three-set victory at No. 2.
 
JARRETT GRAY cruised to a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 4 to put the Lions within a point of clinching the match. Then, with the score tied at 4-4, Chitty delivered for the second straight day, grinding out a 7-5 win in the first set before dispatching Kelly, 6-2, in the second to seal the deal.
 
Up next, the Lions will remain on the road in the USA South for a 4:30 p.m. match this Saturday, March 1 at Berea.
