Men's Tennis Earns 9-0 Win Over Berea Mountaineers

BEREA, Ky. – The Piedmont College men's tennis team picked up its first sweep of the season with a 9-0 win over the Berea Mountaineers Friday. The match was played indoors as weather did not permit the two to meet outside as originally scheduled. 

Freshman JARRETT GRAY earned the nod in the top singles spot and proved to be the clincher in the match with a 6-0, 6-0 straight-sets win over Malpartida. The Lions swept doubles play with some new faces in the doubles lineup. 

BRANDON GREGORY and MATEO SMITH were paired together in the three spot for doubles and won 8-1 to hand both their first collegiate doubles victories. Gregory also picked up his first singles win along with newcomer HARRIS SAILORS. 

The Lions left no doubt with the Mountaineers never winning more than two points in any set. Both ROMAN WEBB and Gray posted 6-0, 6-0 wins. 

Up next, the Lions will host Maryville College at Burgen Tennis Courts on Monday at 4 p.m.

--Three Lions picked up their first official wins in Harrison Sailors (singles), BRANDON GREGORY (singles and doubles), and MATEO SMITH (doubles).
