ATLANTA, Ga. – Facing the #2 Emory Eagles, the Piedmont College men's basketball team dropped a 96-71 contest on the road. The Eagles led by eight with 12:37 left to play, but used a late run to stifle the Lions and maintain an undefeated record.
Piedmont kept pace with the Eagles through the first half trailing by 11 at the break 40-29. Emory got a 3-pointer to start the second half but the Lions then reeled off seven straight to cut into the lead.
Three-pointers were falling in the second half on both sides as Piedmont had several over the opening minutes of the second half but just four total in the game to Emory's 15. A
JORDAN FOOTE three made it 54-44 with 13:48 on the clock but soon after, Emory made a 17-2 run to set themselves apart and claim the win.
Piedmont trailed by as many as 31 with under 5:00 to go but held the Eagles to just three baskets in the final four minutes to cut into the lead.
Up next, the Lions head to The Citadel for a non-counting DI exhibition on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

--The Eagles used a 17-2 run midway through the second half to take control of the game after Piedmont trailed 57-49 with 12:37 to play.

ORRY CLEMENTS-OWENS and
WILL RICHTER both added 10 points.
